Summer Camp 2026 and a Daily Meal for Every Child

Next year, between July 20 and September 25, we will host our 13th summer camp for the children of Kids Are The World Nursery School and for other children from the village.

Our summer camps have been running continuously since 2014 and have proven over the years to be one of our most successful and heartfelt projects for children. Every year, they attract a large number of volunteers and local community members who work together to create a unique experience of connection, learning, and sustainable support for the children.

During the summer holidays, when most schools close their doors, we organise a summer camp at our Kids Are The World Nursery School in Brufut Ghana Town. It is intended for children who attend our kindergarten throughout the year, as well as for other children of the same age groups from nearby villages. This is a less privileged rural community where attending school is not something that can be taken for granted.

Throughout the camp, our volunteers lead various activities and workshops, divided according to age groups. Children enjoy sports games, creative workshops, and learning English, numbers, and letters. Together with our teachers, volunteers create a warm, encouraging, and safe environment where every child can express themselves, learn, and grow.

The summer camps are also an excellent opportunity for students and professionals in the field of education who wish to gain experience with different approaches to kindergarten work—within an environment full of genuine joy, warmth, and community.

Every year, volunteers help collect donations to provide a daily snack for all children attending the camp. For many, this meal is one of the few—if not the only—meals they receive in a day, which makes this donation extremely important—not only as motivation for participation, but also as a step towards healthier child development.

Our summer camps offer opportunities for volunteers with a wide range of interests. If you don’t see yourself in the role of animator, teacher, or educator, you can join one of our other programs—in medicine, veterinary work, photography, environmental protection, village work, and many more.

FIRST TERM: 18 July 2026 – 1 August 2026
SECOND TERM: 1 August 2026 – 15 August 2026
THIRD TERM: 15 August 2026 – 29 August 2026
FOURTH TERM: 29 August 2026 – 12 September 2026
FIFTH TERM: 11 September 2026 – 25 September 2026

If these dates don’t suit you, no problem! You can adjust them to your own schedule and join us whenever you wish, for however long you choose. We are in The Gambia all year round and welcome students and volunteers in various fields throughout the entire year!
